Responsibilities:

I am currently working as the Manager of Finance and Grants at the Black Maria Film Festival in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Festival holds an annual nationwide tour and awards the best independent films. My responsibilities include managing the organization's payroll and finances, including income/expense statements, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable. I also serve as a proposal writer for the grants that sustain the non-profit organization. Also, I am responsible for the bulk of data and travel management for the Festival.

Calculus and Economics Tutor

Responsibilities:

I currently work as a tutor for New Jersey Institute of Technology's Center for the Advancement of Professional Enrichment (CAPE). I assist students in understanding calculus and economics concepts by having them work on sample questions with my aid, then quizzing them to make sure they really understand the theory behind the methods they are using. Additionally, I often spend extra time with students who need help beyond the hours offered by the tutoring center as a volunteer tutor.

Math Teacher's Assistant

Responsibilities:

As a math teacher's assistant, I satisfactorily answered students' questions, prepared them for exams, and kept an attendance record. The class I lead consisted of approximately 25 students, all of whom were part of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). Although the class only met twice every week, I maintained office hours in which students could receive extra help.

Cancer Research Intern

Responsibilities:

I worked as part of a team of researchers in finding possible combatants of melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer. I quickly learned and was able to perform lab procedures to assist the group alongside other interns. I also organized a presentation in collaboration with the research interns in my lab, which was delivered to the entire staff of the Rutgers Laboratory for Cancer Research during the final days that I held the position.

Materials Engineering Research Intern

Responsibilities:

I worked with a mentor to study possible treatments of chronic kidney disease. Although not directly related to my current field, this internship allowed me to enhance my ability to effectively communicate, as it required me to constantly ask questions. I also conducted a literature search and compared the results of similar experiments to the ongoing research at Rutgers. I concluded the internship with a presentation to the research scientists involved in the project.
